Ciclo de Performances Artistas Emergentes

17 Mar / 21h00
Coliseu Porto Ageas

Projections is a cycle of presentations of work by emerging artists and future creators. The aim is to support these artists in the creation and dissemination of their projects.

Wop!
Wandré Gouveia

The performance Wop! arises from a creative experiment in which cardboard boxes are transformed into interactive platforms, creating animated content that puts the performer in contact with these objects and explores possibilities in surreal windows. The dialog between animation, the beginnings of illusionism/cinema and body games plays with gravity and elasticity in a nonsensical reality.

ODI ET AMO (excerpt version)
Aleksandra Demina

“There is a vitality, a life force, a liveliness that translates into action through you and, as there is only one of you at all times, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost. The world won't have it. It's not up to you to determine how good it is, or how valuable it is, or how it compares to other expressions. It's up to you to keep it clearly and directly yours, to keep the channel open. You don't even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and directly attentive to the impulses that motivate you. Keep the channel open. - Martha Graham

A Rose is a Rose is a Round
Maria Carrasco

Present body frequents
Intact, without much dignity
Sometimes she looks too much, and the dignity continues to decay
But she doesn't say, because she shouldn't
Loves in secret
Private property
In the cardboard box at grandma's house, which nobody knows still exists
It still exists
And nobody knows
There are things they prefer to not know
Swallows its own tongue
It's getting more and more private
She knows it's martyrdom
And sometimes it explodes, but it doesn't explode anywhere
There's a lot of white in the red
The wheel
A rose is a rose is a round
A solo that dissolves and delves between precious topics and beyond, almost untouchable. Private - Personal - Secret - Intimate.

Creation and interpretation: Maria Carrasco
Composition/Sound in real time: Maria Carrasco and José Ferreira
Costumes: Maria Carrasco
Set design: Maria Carrasco
Light Design: Gregor Kenneweg and Maria Carrasco

Nácar
Bruno Senune

NÁCAR is a performative proposal that reflects on forgetting and the fiction of memories. It is a subjective and autobiographical poem that focuses on a place of recollection and escape. From the Arabic naqqára, “drum”, nacre is a hard, iridescent substance, rich in limestone, produced by some molluscs. It coats the inside of various shells and is also released as a reaction to a foreign body that has entered the epithelial membrane. The foreign body causes irritation to the animal, which then releases this isolated secretion to calcify similarly to the inside of the shell, forming a pearl whose size varies according to how long it has resisted the foreign body and the climatic conditions of the environment. Nacre is also the substance that represents thirty-one years of marriage. For some time now, I've been reflecting on the fact that I have practically no archives (photographs, videos, drawings) of my childhood. Apart from the physical materials, the stories passed on to me by the people I grew up with are rare and disconnected. This lack of archives has formed in my memory a distant, inventive period full of suppositions. Memory is a place of energy, storage and evocation, often undefined and constructed through the relationship of real images with desires, conflicts and projections.

This project was born out of the need to celebrate a space and what it represents in order to celebrate the irony of what is vague and yet so certain and dazzling. Through the construction and deconstruction of this real and fictional archive, the vigor of places of fragility is enhanced, in a journey between clarity and diffusion, between the tension of wanting to know and letting go. What was, what remains, what throbs, what lives, resists, persists.
